Despite all the workmanship and artistry of its design the most enduring feature of 50 West 67th has been its name, the Musician's Building Erected in 1916 by Hape & Bready architects, with soundproof apartments, this brick and terracotta building has the look of an Elizabethan manor house expanded to apartment house scale. Among the notable design features are shields, multipaned windows, drip moldings, a Gothic entrance and lobby, and a parapet railing with quatrefoils, crockets, and other ornamental forms. Apartments in the back look unto the balconies of it neighbors at 55 ABC Studios, whom according to NYT reports were off to a rocky start.
