Comprised of 32 residences, 350 East 57th Street (Sutton Hall) is a full service 24-hour doorman prewar building boasting an extraordinary planted roof garden with Georgian brick arches, fluted columns, and terra cotta tiles. A separate sun deck is outfitted with lounge chairs. Sutton Hall was one of four cooperatives developed by K. P. Walker and the Garden Plan Company from 1926 to 1928. The Garden Plan buildings, of which there are three in the East 50s and one on East 72nd Street, were characterized by intelligent layouts, large windows, 92" beamed ceilings and, of course, gardens. In the basement, there are laundry facilities, private storage rooms, and maids quarters. Built as a co-op in 1927, 350 East 57th Street advertised elegant layouts, generous entertaining spaces, and fine finishes. Floors 6 through 15 were designed with two apartments per floor a Classic 6 and a Classic 7. Most of the residences feature a 20-foot long, graceful gallery foyer leading into a stately, north-facing living room with a wood burning fireplace and an adjoining formal dining room. 2 or 3 bedrooms face south to a semi-open courtyard.
